Helmets and harnesses on, we stepped out into the 3 degree Celsius air and squinted through the morning mist to the stunning views out over Gordon Dam. Peering over the railing at water 47 storeys below is a strange feeling as your eyes try to adjust to the distance, and your brain tries to comprehend why the hell you want to jump over that railing?!

There are many awesome ways to save $$$ before and during your holiday adventures. Cass and I wanted to do this holiday cheaply, but to not miss out on all the incredible experiences, like abseiling Gordon Dam – the highest commercial abseil in the world! (Video coming soon!) I have lived in the sunny state of Queensland almost my whole life, worked as a travel agent for years, and travelled to 30-something countries, so it was a little embarrassing to confess I had never been up north to our very own Great Barrier Reef.
