Silfra Fissure is the resulting rift caused by the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates moving apart. The crystal-clear glacial waters make for amazing snorkelling in this colourful underwater wonderland.

I have lived in the sunny state of Queensland almost my whole life, worked as a travel agent for years, and travelled to 30-something countries, so it was a little embarrassing to confess I had never been up north to our very own Great Barrier Reef. Hawaii is an amazing place, and as sparkly as the water is at Waikiki Beach, you need to get out and about – so why not snorkel with pretty fish and swim with wild dolphins?!
